Enrollment basics

First, check the eligibility requirements to make sure you’re eligible, as well learn how to verify dependents and see how our plan meets the guidelines of the Affordable Care Act.

Online enrollment ends Friday, November 22 at 11 p.m. CT, and phone enrollment ends at 7 p.m. CT.

If you need help enrolling, call a Benefits Connect adminstrator at 866-222-KISD (5473). English- and Spanish-speaking representatives are available Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. CT, except holidays.

This year the benefits helpline will also be open Saturday, November 16th from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. CT!

If you and your spouse are both Katy ISD employees and qualify for benefits, you need to know a few things about enrolling:

• Each of you may have coverage, but you’ll need to decide who will cover your qualified dependents.
• Neither of you can enroll for spouse life or permanent spouse life coverage, but both of you may have Supplemental Life and AD&D.

• You must enroll to have coverage—the choices you made last year DO NOT roll over to 2025! If you do not enroll by November 22, you will only have Basic Life and EAP coverage effective January 1, 2025. If you do nothing, you will not have medical or specialty coverage. 
• If you’re new to the district, wait 14 days from your start date before you enroll. If you are unable to enroll after waiting 14 days, please call Benefits Connect at 866-222-KISD (5473). 
• Once you’re enrolled, or if you miss the deadline, you are not eligible to make changes to your benefits until the next Open Enrollment period, unless you experience a qualified life event.

You should receive a confirmation statement at your home address in early December. Make sure that information is accurate. If it’s not, you can make corrections by calling Benefits Connect at 866-222-KISD [5473].

Check your check

Check the benefits deductions on your first paycheck in 2025. If they aren’t accurate based on the elections you made, call Benefits Connect at 866-222-KISD (5473) as soon as you can.
